Dr. Lori Leigh Ward, DVM

Owner & Veterinarian

A Tupelo native with deep roots in the community, Dr. Lori Leigh Ward founded Ward Veterinary Services in 2020 with a mission to provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for the animals and families she serves. She is a proud graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and brings a passion for combining advanced veterinary medicine with personalized, compassionate care.

Dr. Ward’s professional interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and equine medicine. Growing up showing and breeding Quarter Horses, she developed a lifelong connection with animals that continues to shape the care she provides today.

In addition to caring for local pets and livestock, Dr. Ward also serves as the veterinarian for the Tupelo Buffalo Park & Zoo, where she extends her expertise to a diverse range of animal species. Through her work at Ward Veterinary Services, she remains committed to providing trusted veterinary care for small animals, large animals, and exotic animals throughout Tupelo and Northeast Mississippi.

Office Manager

Tisha is a New Albany native, where she resides with her life partner Megan, three children, three dogs, and one cat. When she is not managing the clinic, she is busy attending school and sporting events, kayaking, hiking, and traveling. She has a deep love for all of our patients and operates under the motto, "I'll treat them like my own."

Success Story: Lucy 🐾

Emergency Surgery & Foreign Body Removal

Lucy came to Ward Veterinary Services after several episodes of vomiting. Her family knew she had eaten her grandfather’s wallet—including several $100 bills—and were understandably worried.

Dr. Ward and the team worked diligently to determine the cause. After performing radiographs and a barium study, they confirmed there was material in Lucy’s stomach, although it wasn’t possible to identify exactly what it was from the imaging alone.

Lucy’s owners also shared that she had previously undergone surgery for a foreign body, increasing our concern. During surgery, Dr. Ward discovered approximately 20 pieces of chewed plastic sheets in Lucy’s stomach, along with several smaller pieces that had already traveled into her distal colon. Dr. Ward performed a laparotomy and gastrotomy to remove the pieces from her stomach and manually evacuated the contents from her distal colon!

Today, Lucy returned for her recheck and staple removal, and we’re happy to report she’s healing beautifully!

We’re so grateful Lucy’s family trusted us with her care, and we’re thrilled she’s back home where she belongs.
